Karthik-Subbaraj 1
His first film Pizza was both a hit and pathbreaker. For young director Karthik Subbaraj, the pressure got higher when Jigarthanda turned out to be another crowd-puller with its unusual storyline, screenplay and characterisations. The Madurai-born director proved again that he is someone to look out for in the coming decade.

Now, expectations are high about his third film. There is speculation about what the film is going to be about. CE discovered some details about the Karthik's next project. Reliable sources close to the director said that the title of his next film is going to be Iraivi. Like Pizza and Jigarthanda, Iraivi also seems to be an unusual title and is bound to raise the curiosity of audiences. The film will be produced under the Thirukumaran Entertainment banner of Karthik's debut film producer CV Kumar.

The film is slated to be a multi-starrer. A little birdie tells us that Bobby Simhaa and Karunakaran, the duo who created ripples with their performances in Jigarthanda, will be among the main leads. The rest of the star cast is still being decided. Simhaa and Karunakaran have become household names, thanks to their roles in Jigarthanda. The duo is currently part of Aadama Jeichomada. Karunakaran is part of Rajinikanth's Lingaa and Simhaa is part of Urumeen. While Pizza gave Vijay Sethupathy a foothold in the industry, Jigarthanda turned the spotlight on Bobby Simhaa and Siddharth. Given his penchant for unearthing talent, it's no surprise that every young actor now wants to be part of a Karthik Subbaraj film. It remains to be seen who the lucky actors in the film are.

While Jigarthanda was set in Madurai, Iraivi will be Chennai-based, according to sources. Karthik has been busy working on the script so far, and Iraivi might go on the floors soon. The shoot will begin in the first week of November in the city. For CV Kumar, it's yet another win-win situation, as the Kumar–Karthik combo has previously made waves in Pizza, their debut venture.

With Kumar adding twists to winning scripts, it's no surprise that Vasanthabalan recently called him 'the harbinger of new wave in Tamil cinema'. Vasanthabalan lauded Kumar's penchant for successfully creating a new brand of 'alternative commercial cinema' in Tamil.
