Kaththi's Box Office record in UK

Kaththi
Kaththi starring Ilayathalapathi Vijay and Samantha in the lead role, is directed by AR Murugadoss and the film has already emerged a blockbuster flick and has continued to do solid business even after completing three weeks at the box office.

"Kaththi" surpassed the ₹100 crore mark in just 12 days and minted approximately ₹113 crore in 19 days at the worldwide box office. Latest update is the movie has collected about Rs.3.25 crores at the UK box office till now.

This is the first time in the Kollywood industry so far that a Tamil film has completed its run at the UK box office with a Collection of about 333,720 pounds and it would be very difficult to break the record. We also hear that Kaththi has joined the 100 crore club and it is reaching high at the Tamil Nadu Box office.

The film has recovered its worldwide theatrical price estimated at approximately ₹62 crore.

The Vijay starrer is listed among the top four all time highest grossing films in Tamil Nadu. It is Ilayathalapathy's second film to earn more than ₹100 crore after his 2012-blockbuster flick "Thuppakki." For director Murugadoss, "Kaththi" will be the fourth film to cross the ₹100-crore mark after "Thuppakki," "Ghajini," and "Holiday – A soldier is Never Off Duty."

"Kaththi" has managed to dominate the screens despite several new releases. The film has performed exceptionally well in overseas markets including the US, the UK, Australia and Malaysia. It has emerged as the biggest Tamil hit of 2014 and it will be interesting to see if the upcoming biggies – Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" and Dhanush's "Anegan" – will be able to outperform "Kaththi" collections.

The film is expected to continue its decent run at the box office for another few weeks until big releases hit the screens.

Directed by Murugadoss, "Kaththi" has Vijay playing dual roles and Samantha appearing as the female lead. The film also has Bollywood actor Neil Nithin Mukesh and comedian Sathish in supporting roles. The film's music is composed by Anirudh and cinematography is handled by George C Williams.
