2014 has been an eventful year for Tamil film industry. A record 215 films have been released this year.

This is a year a lot of new people entered the film trade, resulting in record prices for big star movies. The price they paid was far more than actual market conditions.

It has been a mixed year for the industry as there were far too many external factors, which unsettled the release plans. And fringe political groups went out of its way to create release road blocks. Another factor that created legal issues was the plagiarism charges hurled by many assistant directors and writers at established directors.

Here is a list of the Top 10 movies which got the highest rating in Tamil Studios movie rating system. The ratings are based on the fan votes and ratings. Only a minimum of 200 votes were taken into account.
