Pandiarajan to direct 80's hit 'Aan Pavam' with his son

Son to reprise Pandiarajan's role in remake
Director Pandiarajan is going to remake his cult 80s film, Aan Paavam featuring his son in lead.

Actor Prithvirajan, son of yesteryear actor-filmmaker Pandiarajan, will reprise his father's role in the eponymous remake of 1985 cult comedy "Aan Paavam".

Pandiarajan will direct the remake. Many stars in the industry, including Udhayanidhi Stalin, have expressed an interest in remaking the film at one point or another.

"Aan Paavam gave me my life and I had even celebrated the 25th anniversary of the film a few years ago. Many directors and actors from the industry had graced the event as they had an affection for the film. Though I was approached by a few for the remake rights, I did not want to give away the rights as I wanted to make this with Prithvi. We have been planning this for some time, and I feel, Prithvi is of the correct age right now to play the role." Pandiarajan told.

"It's one of the biggest comedy hits of Tamil cinema. It'll be interesting to remake it now. My son will reprise my role from the original. I'm going to retain the original theme but will make changes to the script to suit modern-day sensibilities," Pandiarajan added.

Pandiarajan had directed the original, which also featured Revathy and Geetha in important roles.

The director adds that he has updated the plot and made it contemporary, and has almost finalized the rest of the cast and crew. The film, titled Aan Paavam 99%, is expected to go on floors in a few days and the shooting will take place in Ottapalam in Kerala.
