Finally, here is some happy news for those who have been eagerly waiting for "Uttama Villain" release. The Kamal Haasan starrer will hit screens on 2 May (Today) for noon shows.
Official sources say that all the issues have been sorted between the producers and financiers. Kamal Haasan arrived in Chennai on 1 May night after the special screening of the movie in Dubai, and soon the release date was announced.
Earlier on 1 May, morning shows of Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain" had been cancelled in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Tamil Nadu. Sources claimed that the shows were cancelled due to financial issues between the producers and financiers.
"The early morning shows have been cancelled. The issue between the producers and the financiers is expected to be settled in a few hours. The film may release during the course of the day," one of the distributors of the film told IANS.
Fans of Kamal Haasan were disappointed with the turn of events. Some reports claimed that fans were protesting outside the theatres over the delay in announcing the release time.
Later on Friday evening, some reports indicated that the makers of the film have sorted out the issues and audience will be able to watch the evening shows of the movie.
But this news also was later proved to be false when theatres confirmed that "Uttama Villain" shows were cancelled for the whole day.
Meanhwile, the makers had organised a special screening of the film exclusively for media in Chennai on 1 May.
Most of the critics have rated the movie as one of Kamal Haasan's best.
"Uttama Villain", which is a comedy drama, is being touted as the most iconic flick of Kamal Haasan. Ulaganayagan will portray the role of an eighth century drama artist (Uthaman) and a 21st century film star (Manoranjan).
Produced by Thirrupathi Brothers, the film is being distributed worldwide by Eros International.
