Cable operators to take legal action against Dhanush?

Cable TV operators, who recently protested against an advertisement featuring Dhanush for a DTH company, have now decided to file a case against the actor.

Seeking an immediate unconditional apology from Dhanush, the Tamil Nadu Cable TV Operators Association has said if the actor fails to apologize, it would file a defamation case.

Meanwhile, the controversial line in the advertisement, which says that cable TV operators charge for channels that the audience don’t watch, has been removed.

Earlier in a statement, Tamizhaga Cable TV Operators’ General Welfare Association hit out at Dhanush for allegedly demeaning them in the advertisement.

In a statement, G Dhamodharan, state general secretary of the association, said, “We strongly condemn popular actor Dhanush for insulting cable operators in an advertisement for a DTH company.”

Requesting the government to immediately ban the said advertisement, he said it is unacceptable to demean cable operators. “Besides withdrawing the ad, Dhanush should tender an unconditional apology to us,” he said.
