Jayam Ravi's ‘Miruthan’ based on zombies, aiming for Pongal release

Tamil cinema’s first-ever zombie film is on its way, if one has to go by suggestions dropped by the first look poster of Jayam Ravi’s upcoming movie ‘Miruthan’, directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan.

The still has Jayam Ravi wielding a gun, with a horde of blood thirsty zombies starring at him with ‘kolaveri’. Lakshmi Menon plays the heroine of the movie, which is getting ready to hit the screens early next year.

The team shot for thirty days in Ooty in mid-2015, before returning to Chennai to complete portions. In October 2015, a schedule was held at Binny Mills, where the art direction team had erected a set costing Rs 1.5 crore.

The satellite rights of Jayam Ravi’s upcoming film Miruthan have been sold for a whopping price. The latest is that the film will hit the screens for Pongal 2016 along with Vishal's Kathakali and Bala's Thara Thappattai.

The stunning first-look poster of the film featuring zombies and Jayam Ravi has already created big ripples on the internet.

Meanwhile, D Imman recorded a song for ‘Miruthan’ recently. Writing about it on his microblogging page, the composer posted: “Recorded @surajjagan on a hard rock session for #MIRUTHAN starring @actor_jayamravi directed by @ShaktiRajan.” It is to be noted that Suraj Jagan is popular in Bollywood.
