This has been a condition in Bollywood that big movies due to some unfortunate reasons (not just due to lockdown) didn’t have a theatrical release.

Thanks to OTT platforms, where they happened to get direct releases. However, here we get to see that the situation is becoming more common.

Venkat Prabhu’s production ‘RK Nagar’ which was directed by his long time associate Saravana Rajan released on Netflix with out seeing theatres. It is noteworthy that VP has been pushing with his best to have theatrical release, but finally with no possibilities to afford, he went for direct Netflix release.

Yes, RK Nagar, is currently out on the streaming platform Netflix. The director announced in his official Twitter account.

This project was announced way back in 2017 and has been in the dark for more than 2 years now. It is worth to mention that the movie was released on Netflix on December 2019 with or without the knowledge of RK Nagar team and after being on the OTT platform for over 6 hours, the film has been removed from Netflix for unknown reasons.

Directed by Saravana Rajan, RK Nagar starred Vaibhav, Sampath Raj, Karunakaran, T. Siva, Sana Althaf, Anjena Kirti among others. With music composed by Premgi Amaren, the film was produced by Venkat Prabhu under the banner Black Ticket Company, in association with Shraddha Entertainment.

Venkat Prabhu will also be bankrolling the Chimbu Deven directorial Kasadatabara, an anthology film. On the work front, Venkat Prabhu is currently wielding the megaphone for the STR starrer Maanaadu.
