Ajith's 'Valimai' may be pushed for summer 2021 release

Thala's 60th film titled 'Valimai' will mark the second collaboration of Ajith, director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor after 2019 super hit legal-drama 'Nerkonda Paarvai' which was a remake of Hindi film 'Pink' which had Amitab and Tapsee in lead role.

'Valimai' completed the second schedule before the coronavirus lockdown where the star is believed to have been injured during a stunt sequence. The team will next head to Hyderabad for the third schedule for which the makers are planning to resume filming as soon as the lockdown is lifted.

It was earlier said they are planning to release the film in January 2021 around Pongal festival and likely to lock horns with Superstar's 'Annaatthe', but now reports says it could release on Summer 2021, April 29 to be precise, for a reason.. yes! for Thala's next birthday which falls in May 1st. It is sad to say that there will not any releases for Ajith this year.

Valimai, touted to be a thriller, features Ajith in a new avatar and is likely to do justice to his mass hero image. The film has been shot in exotic locations and will have an international feel. A while ago, Boney had said that he wanted to launch Ajith in Bollywood and this created a buzz among movie buffs. If Valimai does well at the box office, it might pave the way for the Ultimate Star’s B-town debut.

Produced by Boney Kapoor under his banner BayView Projects in association with Zee Studios, Valimai will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi and Telugu actor Kartikeya will be seen playing key roles in the film. Some reports suggest Navdeep will play the antagonist in the movie, though there isn't any official confirmation.
