Siddharth's 'Takkar' and Madhavan's 'Nishabdham' heading direct OTT release?

For last few days Jyotika's Ponmagal Vandhal been on headlines, which is slated to have its digital premiere in few days, faced the wrath of theatre associations and distributors. The association revealed that no Tamil films should release on OTT platforms before 100 days of its theatrical release.

This has caused a big uproar in cinema industry between producers, theatre owners and distributors. While producers stand united saying that they need to keep their business afloat during the lockdown, theatre owners and distributors are trying to get every film to the big screens.

Sources say small and medium budget film producers are in talk with OTT platform to make their money worth. We hear that producers of Trisha's Paramapatham Vilayattu and Santhanam's Server Sundaram have been approached by a leading OTT. These films were slotted for release but never seen silver screen due to various reason. Due to ongoing lockdown, streaming platforms see huge spike in traffic and compete each other to gain more subscribers. Now sources say, Amazon Prime Video which bagged 'Ponmagal Vandhal' now acquired Siddharth's 'Takkar' and Madhavan's 'Nishabdham' which are ready to premier directly on OTT platform.

Takkar

Takkar directed by Karthik G Krish of Kappal fame, has Siddharth playing the lead role. The team completed post production work and awaiting release since January 2020.

Even as Siddharth and Karthik G Krish are awaiting the release of their 'Shaitan Ka Bachcha', 'Takkar' is the duo's second project together. The producers of Kappal, Sudhan and Jayaram, produced Takkar under their banner Passion Studios.

Takkar has Divyansha Kaushik pairing up with Siddharth. The story of Takkar is about two egoistic and hot-tempered characters, whose lives go through transformations after encountering each other.

Abhimanyu Singh, Yogi Babu, Munishkanth and RJ Vignesh are also part of the star cast. The technical crew of this film includes Nivas K Prasanna for music and Vaanjinathan Murugesan for cinematography with Ga Gowtham for editing and Udaya Kumar for art direction. Umadevi, Ku Karthik and Arivarasu have penned the lyrics for the songs and Dinesh Kasi has choreographed the stunts.

Last seen in Aruvam, Siddharth, who made his debut with director Shankar in Boys, has been roped in for Kamal Hassan's Indian 2. According to sources, he will be seen playing the role of a cop and it is believed that Siddharth plays Senapathy’s grandson who sets out to avenge the death of his father.

Nishabdham

The trailer of Madhavan and Anushka's long-delayed film, Nishabdham, released on March. Nishabdham, was supposed to hit the marquee on February 7, 2020. However, the makers couldn't release it on time due to post-production issues. Directed by Hemant Madhukar, the film then slotted for April 2 release, but didn't release due to lockdown.

The movie, which was promoted as a silent thriller, has Shalini Pandey in a pivotal role. Directed by Hemant Madhukar, the film planned to release in five languages namely Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and English. Bankrolled by Kona Venkat and TG Vishwa Prasad under their respective banners Kona Film Corporation and People Media Factory, the team had shot the film in various locations in the US.

Hollywood actor Michael Madsen of Kill Bill fame will be seen playing the antagonist in the film. Meanwhile, Madhavan is also working on a film titled Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation who was accused of espionage.
