Director Gautham Vasudev Menon talks about his recent short film Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn and trolls by the meme makers
Despite of the mixed reactions and trolls on social media, Gautham Vasudev Menon’s short film has garnered several million views and has become one of the most-talked about short film in the lockdown.
In a recent interaction for a YouTube channel, director Gautham Vasudev Menon opened up about how this short film has been trolled by the meme makers.
Gautham who says that the film took a week to get ready for release, believes that it is a big achievement for a short film to reach 6 million views in just days. Talking about the memes and trolls the film received, Gautham says that Simbu predicted the memes based on Trisha treating Simbu as child even before shooting.
"Simbu, even before going for shoot, said that definitely a meme on himself laying on Trisha’s lap will surface. After seeing these memes, I called STR and we laughed about his prediction", said Gautham Menon.
"But the baby dialogue is straight from Jessie's heart. Only by saying that, he can ensure that Karthik would end the romantic conversation", he added.
"If one thinks that it is an illegal relationship, it is illegal. This depends on how people perceive it. But I don’t see it that way. This is Karthik’s genuine and pure way of expressing love and Jessie knows how to handle him and in the meantime she likes him a lot" Gautham said who reiterated that it is not a moral science class.
"I never asked people to call their ex girlfriends and talk with them. It all depends on their self control." said Gautham who went on to explain how passionate Jessie is towards Karthik when she declares him as her third child. He also hints about the presence of Jessie’s husband around her which is going to be featured in the original sequel.
"I've just made a short film and happy with the fact that people are talking about it. I've not made Bigil or Sarkar", said the filmmaker.
