Tamil movie industry saddens due to death of a young director

A freaking road accident took life of an upcoming young talented director AV Arun Prasath. Arun Prasath is a former assistant of filmmaker Shankar, this tragic bike accident happened near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore.

Prasath directed 4G, a fantasy-comedy featuring GV Prakash and Gayathri Suresh. Launched about four years back the release of the movie was delayed due to various reasons.

Arun is a native of Annur in Coimbatore. He was returning to Annur after visiting Mettupalayam in his motorcycle when he was knocked down by a tipper lorry heading towards Mettupalayam. Prasath died on the spot, sources said. Police recovered the body and shifted it to Mettupalayam government hospital for postmortem. The lorry driver Jayaraj has been arrested.

The news coming off as a shocker for the team members and the Kollywood industry. Though the film 4G was delayed a bit, it does arrive as a sad and unfortunate news for the industry.

Arun Prasath, who was an erstwhile associate of Shankar, was credited in the film’s posters as Venkat Pakkar. Shankar and the team members expressed their condolences through their social media pages yesterday.

"Heartbroken by the sudden demise of the young director and my ex-assistant, Arun. You were always sweet, positive, and hardworking. My prayers are forever with you and my deepest condolences to your family and friends," read his tweet.


GV Prakash Kumar took to Twitter to pay his homage. He shared a happy picture of the late director. In the snap. Arun can be seen sitting on a bike as he flaunts his moustache. In a message tweeted in Tamil, Prakash wrote, "Deeply saddened by the news of the death of a sweet brother and my director Venkat Pakkar who always moved with warmth and confidence."


Popular actor Manobala too shared his photo on the microblogging portal to express his condolence.
