The Tamil Nadu government has permitted shooting for television serials, the directive from Chief Minister follows discussions held with FEFSI and small screen producers’ association.

The Tamil Nadu Government has allowed TV serial and content producers to resume shooting of soap operas with conditions. Small screen industry welcomed the decision since it is cramped by the COVID-19 nationwide lockdown since March.

After rounds of discussion with industry representatives from the small screen as well as the film technicians’ union FEFSI, TN government's order dated May 21 laid out several restrictions and conditions to resume shooting, which includes crew control, choosing safe location, among others.
  • Set should not have more than 20 people including artistes and technicians.
  • Shoot only in closed-door setup (or Indoor)
  • Property is not located in a containment zone
  • Outdoor filming, shooting in public places will not be allowed
  • Permission can be given for outdoor filming in rural or town panchayat areas
  • Spectators should not be allowed
  • The crew and other members will have to adhere to social distancing norm
  • Follow safety norms like spraying disinfectant at the location, vehicles used for filming, cameras, other shooting equipments
  • Actors must wear masks between takes (may take off masks in front of the camera)
