Pichaikkaran release in 2016, is one the super hit film in Vijay Antony's career. Not only in Kollywood, the Telugu dubbed version become a huge hit in the Telugu speaking states. The film's TRP never disappoints the channels when aired on TV in both the languages.

In a recent interview, the music director turned actor revealed that he is working on a script for 'Pichaikkaran 2', a sequel to original 'Pichaikkaran'. The actor who now turned into script writer, also penned the dialogues and screenplay too. Working on the script for four months, Vijay Antony stated that the film will not be directed by Sasi, who directed the original film.

Vijay Antony stated that the sequel will be made with better production value. The cast and crew details will be out soon, he said, also hinting that he might be composing the music for the film.

On the film front, the director is busy with an untitled film with Harish Kalyan. Vijay Antony also has Tamilarasan, Agni Siragugal, Khaki, untitled films with Anandakrishnan, Vijay Milton, and Balaji K Kumar in the pipeline. After the lockdown, Vijay Antony will reveal more details about Pichaikkaran 2.
