Suriya's upcoming film 'Soorarai Pottru' is one of the film whose release got affected by coronavirus lockdown. The film was all set to release on May 1, but has been postponed indefinitely. Suriya is playing the role of Nedumaaran Rajangam.

Few days ago in a virtual chat, when asked about releasing 'Soorarai Pottru' in OTT, the Singam actor replied, "There is nothing like getting a proper theatrical release for your film. I am eagerly waiting to watch the film in the theatre. I am looking forward to it. "

Soorarai Pottru was shot in various locations including Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chhattisgarh, and Madurai. The post-production work of 'Soorarai Pottru' was complete, and the director had already made her final copy of the film. Meanwhile the movie has reached another milestone in close to the release. The action-packed film has passed the censor-board by receiving 'U' certification, approved for all age group of audience.

Suriya's home banner and co-producer of the movie, 2D Entertainment has made it official in social network, that 'Soorarai Potru' has been censored and the CBFC has awarded it a clean U certificate. The company has also hinted "Our Maara is ready for action" suggesting an early release date.

GV Prakash Kumar composed music for the film, from which two more songs are yet to release. The makers are planning to release them in coming weeks. Fans are hoping that the Suriya starrer will hit the big screen soon after the lockdown is lifted. Earlier, theatre owners had planned to ban the film along with the actor's fans after Suriya decided to release Jyothika's latest film, Ponmagal Vandhaal on Amazon Prime Video.

Soorarai Pottru, the film, directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, is based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. The film is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in association with Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment. The biopic also features Paresh Rawal, Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu in significant roles.
