Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2', directed by S Shankar, is a sequel to the 1996 hit Indian, which features Kamal in the role of an aged freedom fighter, who fights against corruption said to have some political undertones.

'Indian 2' has wrapped up with sixty percent of the shooting and there have been lots of issues involved over its process. The shoot was stopped after the unfortunate crane accident that happened on the sets of the movie in February 2020. When the team was ready to resume the shoot, COVID-19 outbreak changed their plans and the shoot has been postponed indefinitely.

When rumours spread that Lyca Productions is planning to cancel 'Indian 2' because of the fallout with Kamal over the crane incident, the production house put an end to the speculations by confirming that the project is very much on cards.

The latest update on the movie is about resuming the shoot and the updated release date. Per latest reports, the team is speculated to resume the shooting for the film sometime in February 2021 and planning to release it for Pongal 2022.

The makers have reportedly started editing process for the movie when the Tamil Nadu government gave permission to resume any post-production work between the lockdowns. Reports emerge that the team was contemplating to release the Kamal Haasan starrer in two parts considering the length of the movie.

The movie stars Kajal Aggarwal as the leading lady reportedly playing an elderly women. The other cast includes Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Vivek, Rakul Preet and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Aishwarya Rajesh was originally supposed to play Priya Bhavani Shankar's role but opted out when the film did not begin as planned.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the songs and background score, this marks his first collaboration with both Kamal Haasan and director Shankar.
