Suriya’s next film 'Soorarai Pottru' is one of the most anticipated films of this year. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film is based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath.

Suriya has pinned all hopes on 'Soorarai Pottru', because his last film 'NGK' didn't do well at box-office. The movie was supposed to hit the screens on May, but postponed until things get normal.

The latest buzz is that, the makers of the film have decided to release the trailer of the film on July 23, which marks Suriya's birthday. Though there is no official confirmation regarding this, fans are expecting an update on star's birthday. Suriya will turn 44 on this day and his fans have already planned many activities on social media as part of the birthday celebrations.

The makers revealed that the censor board has issued a U certificate for the film. In a recent Instagram live session when asked about OTT release, actor Suriya revealed that the film is made for theatres and he is eagerly waiting to watch the film on the big screen along with his fans.

Meantime there were reports that the distribution rights of Suriya's Soorarai Pottru has been sold for a whopping 55 crores. But the sources close to the team of 'Soorarai Pottru' clarified that the news is not true and it is a mere rumour.

Jointly produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment, the film also features Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu in pivotal roles. GV Prakash has been roped in to compose music for the film.
