Venkat Prabhu lauds STR's commitment for 'Maanaadu'

Maanaadu
Actor Silambarasan TR aka Simbu or STR's last release in 2019 director Sundar C's ‘Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven’ was a flop and the actor caught in a lot of controversies in the same year.

'Maanaadu' was announced with director Venkat Prabhu and deferred multiple times because Simbu couldn’t take out time as promised. Simbu was accused of non-cooperation and producer Suresh Kamatchi announced to drop Simbu from the film and decided to cast some other hero. Simbu went ahead and announced 'Maghaa Maanadu', which will be produced by Chimbu Cine Arts and directed by one or both of Simbu and TR.

After discussion in the presence of the members of Producer's Council and Simbu's mother Usha Rajendar, where they arrived at an amicable solution. Early this year, 'Maanaadu' work resumed with Simbu. The producer took to Twitter to share exclusive videos of Simbu working out at the gym for 'Maanaadu'.

Contradictory to those accusations, Venkat Prabhu in an interview with leading online, lauds Simbu for his commitment for the project. He said that he knows STR from his childhood and he is very close to him like a family. He recalled how Simbu was helpful for his film 'Chennai 28'. It was STR who suggested having the song, 'Saroja Samannikalo', close to the climax of the movie. Venkat Prabhu also said that the actor helped him to sell the movie in the Madurai area.

“We’ve been wanting to work together for a very long time, and it finally materialized in 'Maanaadu'. A lot of people talk so many things about him, but we had no problem at all while filming for this movie. He was always there and he acted in all the scenes, calmly. I’ve heard people say that STR doesn’t act on Sundays or on evenings. For a particular sequence, we actually filmed on a Sunday night from 6pm to 6am on the next day. At times, he used to say ‘Yen Sir Night la shoot vekreenga eppopaaru’, but when the camera’s on, he transforms into this amazing actor that he is.”, Venkat Prabhu said.

Director-actor SJ Suryah has been roped in to play an important role in this political film. 'Maanaadu' has Kalyani Priyadarshan, SA Chandrasekar, Premgi Amaren, Karunakaran, Y Gee Mahendran, Manoj Bharathiraja, and Bigg Boss-fame Daniel Anne Pope, with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the cinematography is handled by Richard M Nathan.
