'Andhadhun' Tamil remake to have Karthik and Yogi Babu
Producer - Actor Thiyagarajan confirmed earlier this year that he has the remake rights of the Bollywood hit 'Andhadhun' with his son, Prashanth playing the lead role.

While the film maker was planning to start the film in April, it has been postponed due to the ongoing lockdown, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

'Andhadhun' released in 2018 is a black comedy, directed by Sriram Raghavan, which revolves around a pianist who gets involved in the murder of big-shot. This Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte starrer film was highly acclaimed upon its release and received lot of love from the audience, which raised the demand for the remake rights of the movie.

Thiagrajan has now revealed that he has roped in veteran actor Karthik to play Anil Dhawan in the original the and Yogi Babu to play the auto driver one of the key role in the film.

Thiagarajan, who acquired the Tamil remake rights, in an interview to leading media quoted saying, “Almost every production house and star in our industry was trying to get the remake rights for this film. But I managed to get it.”

There were reports at one point after the success of the film that Dhanush was interested in acquiring the rights and had expressed his interest to star in the Tamil Remake of the film.

Thiagrajan recently in an interview said Prashanth will well suit to reprise the role of Ayushmann, because of his real life piano playing skills,(really!?) quoting, "I got him a grand piano when he was seven and he completed four stages of the instrument in Trinity College, London. He has been practising playing the instrument for over nine months now." (self proud moment).

While there were reports of Ramya Krishnan has been roped in to play the role of Tabu in the original, the filmmaker replied, "We are still in talks with a few actresses for the roles played by Tabu and Radhika."

Thiyagarajan also revealed that Prashanth has been working out to shed some extra weight and has lost 23 kilograms so far. So we can expect slim and trim Prashanth like back in 90s or 2000s.

Mohan Raja who last directed Sivakarthikeyan in 'Velaikkaran', will direct the Tamil remake of 'Andhadhun'.

Andhadhun is all set to be remade in Telugu as well. The remake will be directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and will star Nithiin in the lead. As per recent reports, the Telugu remake rights of Andhadhun have been acquired for Rs 3.5 crore by Nithiin’s home banner Shresth Movies, which is managed by his father.

Prashanth was last seen in Johnny, the Tamil remake of Johnny Gaddar, directed by Sriram Raghavan.

Veteran actor Karthik was last seen in Mr Chandramouli starring his son Gautham Karthik that failed miserably at the box office.
