Mani Ratnam’s upcoming magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' is waiting for the lockdown to over so they can resume the shooting.
The team is planning to start the shoot by September with Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who recently recovered from COVID-19.
The latest buzz about the movie that Vikram's 'Deiva Thirumagal' fame Sara Arjun (aka baby Sara) has been roped in to play an important role in 'Ponniyin Selvan'. Reports say Sara will be playing the young version of an lead character in the film. Grown-up teen girl Sara was also recently seen in the critically acclaimed anthology 'Sillukarupatti'.
The makers are planning to release the film in two parts while the shoot will complete in one go. While the first schedule of the movie was completed in Thailand, it’s now said that the team will go for shooting in India. The team is reportedly waiting for the government permissions to resume shooting.
Reports say that, Mani Ratnam doesn’t want to skip the 2021 release plan of the movie, so if the government denies permission for an outdoor shoot, they may choose shooting indoor inside AVM Studios in Vadapalani or Ramoji film city in Hyderbad.
While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in a double role -playing both Nandini - the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, and the role of Queen Mandakini Devi, the stellar star cast include Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Jayaram among others. Actors Radhakrishnan Parthiban, Keerthy Suresh and Anushka Shetty has opted out of the film due to some issues.
Techincal crew includes Sreekar Prasad doing the editing work, Ravi Varman handling the camera, Thotta Tharani for production design, Jeyamohan penning the dialogues, Eka Lakhani designing the costumes, Vikram Gaikwad for makeup, Master Brinda doing the choreography.
