A case related to the election of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) headed by actor Vishal is pending in the court. Hence, the activities of the Producers' Association have came to a standstill.

Recently few senior directors and producers from Kollywood, including Bharathirajaa, SA Chandrasekhar and others had met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami to request permission to resume film shooting and to enquire about the possibility of waiving off local body entertainment tax.

Meanwhile, there were reports that a new association for producers in Tamil cinema will be formed and Bharathiraja will be spearheading the team. Opening up about these reports, Bharathiraaja has announced that he will be starting a new producers' council named Tamil Thiraipada Nadappu Thayaripaalar Sangam and issued an official statement.

In his release, he said, "The present situation demands another council to address the issues of producers. It’s been a long time since we have discussed plans as a team. We will look into the problems faced by those have invested in films, their future and the way releases are planned."

Clarifying that his intention is not to break up the parent organisation, he added, "The existing Producers Council will function as it as and we don’t have any intention to defame it. We are eager to work towards positive changes. It is high time we act. The whole film industry is affected by corona, and we have a responsibility to come up with plans to do our bit to save the industry."
