Oru Kuralaai - Six hour long virtual fund rising concert on facebook live
A team of more than 100 renowned music artists and singers from Tamil Nadu has come together to organise a virtual concert titled Oru Kuralaai to raise funds for artists who have lost their livelihood because of the pandemic and the lockdown.

AR Rahman and Kamal Haasan extended their support and collaborating in this six-hour-long global virtual concert, which will be live-streamed via Facebook tomorrow, September 12 at 6 pm.

That video prompted singer Srinivas to bring together members of the music community to establish United Singers Charitable Trust for this fund-raising event.

In an emotional video that went viral on social media, musician Dilli Babu lamented about the lack of an organisation that offered financial aid to small-time, struggling musicians, who were left to survive on their own in the wake of the pandemic.

"We will be announcing the singers and composers in batches to pique the curiosity of the audience. This concert will be entirely in Tamil unlike the Independence Day special song, #TogetherAsOne," says singer Srinivas, one of the core members of the trust.

"I feel the entertainment industry is largely overlooked," says singer Haricharan, also one of the trustees, "There are so many people working in the industry, besides the privileged lot. They all need to be outside for work. Since there was no sign of normalcy returning, we thought it was necessary to support people from our community."

The concert will be streamed thrice on the day to cater to the audience in different geographical regions. The announcement was made on social media by none other than Vijay Sethupathi and Sivakarthikeyan.

The list of singers that are to participate in the concert include Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Shreya Goshal, Suchitra, Mano, Sujatha, Unnikrishnan, Anuradha, Sadhana Sargam, Vijayaprakash, Rajesh Vaidhya, Chitra, Karthik, Naresh Iyer, Rahul Nambiar, Aalap Raju, Swetha Mohan and Vijay Yesudas.
