After directing superstar in 'Kaala', director Pa Ranjith joined hands with Arya for sports film 'Salpetta'.

The shoot of the film was supposed to begin in May with makers erecting a huge set in North Madras, but the COVID 19 pandemic affected the progress of the film.

Arya will play the role of a boxer in the movie and his beefed-up look has already created massive expectations among Ranjith's fans. Arya even motivated his wife Sayyeshaa who is also undergoing boxing training now.

Now, because the government has given permission for film shootings, 'Salpetta' team are planning to resume the shoot next week in Chennai.

Dushara Vijayan of 'Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari' fame plays the female lead in Salpetta, the film also has Kalaiyarasan and Santhosh Prathap in pivotal characters.

Pa Ranjith had reportedly started to work on the biopic of freedom fighter, Birsa Munda, after 'Kaala'. However, due to some financial constraints, the movie got pushed, which led to Pa Ranjith starting work on 'Salpetta'. Reports claim that after completing the shooting of the Arya starrer, Pa Ranjith might resurrect Birsa Munda's biopic

On the other hand, Arya is waiting for the release of Shakti Soundar Rajan's 'Teddy', which features his wife Sayyeshaa as the female lead. He is also working on Sundar C's horror-comedy 'Aranmanai 3', in which he is playing the ghost. He also has Sundar C's historical drama 'Sangamithra' with Disha Patani, Jayaram Ravi, and Jackie Shroff.
