Superstar's 'Annaatthe' shoot to resume but without Rajinikanth
After 'Darbar' with director AR Murugadoss, Superstar Rajinikanth signed 'Annaatthe' with Siruthai Siva, bankrolled by Sun Pictures, which went on floors earlier this year.

While thirty percent of the shoot is complete at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown halted the further shoot of the film.

After five months, the film industry is slowly getting back to work since the government have granted permission for film shoots by following guidelines provided the government. An untitled Vijay Sethupathi - Taapsee Pannu film, which mark the directorial debut of Deepak Sundarajan, son of veteran director and actor Sundarajan, went on floors with its 28 days schedule in Jaipur from Sep 2nd.

Vijay Antony is beginning his next film from September 4th, so as Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan', Simbu's 'Maanaadu' and other films are ready to resume the shooting.

Coming to 'Annaatthe', we reported that Superstar doesn't want to resume shoot until six months considering the age related risk factors. 'Annaathe' team has decided to give the maximum time for Superstar Rajinikanth portions which will be shot only when it is convenient to him which experts believe could be in the beginning of next year.

So the makers have decided to resume the shoot of the film in coming weeks without the superstar by capturing the shots for the film that doesn't invoice Rajini in the frame. Already a schedule has been planned with Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj and Soori and later Khusbhu, Meena and Siddharth too will join.

Meanwhile Siruthai Siva has already completed the post production work of the scenes that have already been shot and he plans to finish the coming schedule too before Rajini joins the sets. If everything goes as planned Sun Pictures is eyeing a April 14th release for 'Annaathe'.

The family drama which was originally slated for the Deepavali festival got postponed to Pongal 2021 but now it will be pushed to summer 2021. The film features Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, and Khusbu Sundar as the female lead stars.

This decision also casts doubts on his poll debut. Rajinikanth had earlier announced that his soon-to-be-launched political outfit will contest the Tamilnadu assembly polls which are scheduled to take place next year. Till now, the star has not announced the party’s name, nor has he any plans for elections.
