Vijay starrer 'Bigil' released in Diwali 2019, directed by Atlee under the banner of AGS entertainment was considered to be one of the highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year with 300 crores.

Vijay played a double role in the movie, a football coach and a local don who helps people by teaching them sports. It also boasted of a stellar supporting cast in Jackie Shroff, Yogi Babu and Nayanthara.

Thalapathy Vijay’s latest blockbuster 'Bigil', directed Atlee under the banner of AGS entertainment was considered to be one of the highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year with 300 crores. The film has broken several records at the box office since its release.

Meantime Vijay fans got excited over the one year anniversary of the release of the song 'Verithanam' from the movie. It marks the first song for Vijay to croon for AR Rahman's tune. Verithanam song from the film become an instant chartbuster after its release and has crossed a hundred million views on YouTube. It is worth to recollect the interesting incidents Vijay shared during the 'Bigil' audio launch about the song's recording session. "Initially, I had no idea if I will be called to sing a song in the film. One day Atlee told me about the song and asked me to sing. However, I was hesitant at the beginning before Atlee encouraged me with all his confidence," said Vijay.

"Then I told Rahman sir to send his assistant for the recording session. I went to the recording and sung the song. After some days, Atlee once again texted me saying Rahman sir wanted to meet me. I was wondering why he wanted to me and told Atlee if my voice doesn't sound good, please remove it. But he insisted me to come to the studio where Rahman sir was present. Then he said few corrections and made me sing the song all over again," he added.

Vijay debuted as singer in Thenisai Thendral Deva's music for the film 'Rasigan' released in 1994. He sung 'Bombay City Sukkha Rotti' song alongside K.S. Chitra and become a chartbuster.
