Actor-politician Vijayakanth has been reportedly tested positive for the Coronavirus and has been admitted to the hospital.

Update: Captain Vijayakanth has mild symptoms of corona during routine check up, doctors advised him to take rest and he is absolutely fine now.

As per reports Captain, the 68-year-old DMDK party leader had been admitted to the MIOT hospital in Ramavaram after tested positive to COVID-19. While Captain Vijayakanth has been battling his own health issues for the past few years, the news comes shocking to fans, party members and film industry.

It is to be noted that Vijayakanth is one of the first celebrities who came forward to help the government to curb coronavirus. He asked the government to use Andal Alagar Engineering College and his party office in Koyambedu as special coronavirus treatment centers.

Vijayakanth also offered land near Shri Andal Alagar College of Engineering located near Chennai when mobs protest against burring Doctor and Neurosurgeon who dies of the deadly virus. He also requested the state government to educate people that coronavirus does not spread through corpses, and asked his political party workers to do the same. He also asked his party workers to supply masks, gloves, and sanitisers to health workers, policemen and corporation staff.

Captain was last seen playing cameo role in his son Shanmuga Pandian starrer 'Sagaptham' in 2015. His last full-fledged film was back in 2010,'Virudhagiri' which also marked his first film a director.
