While everyone was expected to see actor Vijay and filmmaker AR Murugadoss, who have worked together in films such as Thuppakki, Kaththi and most recently Sarkar, to reunite for the fourth time for 'Thalapathy 65', AR Murugadoss has backed out of this project.

Many have wonder on who is going to helm 'Thalapathy 65'. While names like Vetrimaaran, Sudha Kongara, Hari and Mohan Raja have been hitting the headlines, there were also reports that director Magizh Thirumeni filling in but he is already committed to a Udayanidhi Stalin film and Mohan Raja is busy with the pre-production of Thani Oruvan 2.

Now the buzz in the Kollywood circle is that commercial blockbuster director Perarasu could helm 'Thalapathy 65'. Reports suggest that he has narrated the script to Vijay and he is impressed and even Sun Pictures accepted it.
