Jayam Ravi's 'Bhoomi' to premiere directly on Sun TV

Jayam Ravi's upcoming film 'Bhoomi' marks his 25th film and it is directed by Lakshman who has already worked with the Ravi in films like 'Romeo Juliet' and 'Bogan'.


The makers are gearing up for a second single release titled 'Kadaikkanaale' and the Imman composition sung by Shreya Ghoshal will be unveiled in full on October 22, 2020.

Meanwhile there is a strong buzz that the movie's satellite, OTT rights have been grabbed by the Sun Network. Reports suggest that the network is planning to premiere the movie directly on Sun TV with out theatrical release on the occasion of Deepavali/Diwali and also available to stream on its OTT platform SunNXT thereafter.

Sun TV has acquired the movie rights of 'Bhoomi' for a huge price as it ran out of any new movies to premeire on the festival holiday. The main reason being, there were no new releases in theaters in recent months due to COVID-19 pandemic and some makers choose to release their movies on OTT platforms. Also, there is a rule that new movies should be aired 100 days after their theatrical release.

While the makers were about to ink the deal with HotStar and Vijay TV was expected to premiere the movie, now Sun TV has finally acquired all the rights of the film.

Though the director has denied the news of OTT release, the makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding that.

Produced by Sujatha Vijayakumar under the banner of Home Movie Makers, 'Bhoomi' will mark the Tamil debut of actress Nidhhi Agerwal who plays the female lead. 'Bhoomi' has cinematography by Dudley and editing by Ruben and John Abraham.

Other than 'Bhoomi', Sun Network is also planning to premiere two other films, which will go straight to TV premieres for the festive seasons. First one being the Tamil remake of Kannada film 'Mayabazar' which has Prasanna, Shaam, Ashwin produced by Sundar C and directed by Badri. Second film is the rural entertainer directed by M Muthaiah with Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon in the lead.
