Actor Vijay Sethupathi plays a politician in upcoming political thriller ‘Tughlaq Durbar’, which is directed by Delhiprasad Deenadayalan. The makers earlier announced Aditi Rao Hydari will be playing the female lead.

Now, Aditi Rao Haydari has opted out of the film and sources claims that she opted out due to a date clash with her other project. The makers announced on Tuesday that Raashi has come on board and they welcomed her with a special poster.

Seven Screen Studios, the production house of Tughlaq Durbar took to Twitter to welcome Raashi. They wrote, “Happy to announce that #RaashiKhanna is playing as the female lead in @VijaySethuOffl’s #TughlaqDurbar. Team #TughlaqDurbar welcomes you aboard @RaashiKhanna (sic).” "We tried our best to work out the date issues with Aditi, but it didn't work out. Our next immediate choice was Raashi Khanna. She plays a Marwari girl and fits in the role perfectly. When we narrated the script, she really liked the various shades her character offers. Her character is a girl-next-door-one, but her mannerisms will be a tad different. She worked around her dates and joined the shoot recently.", the director Delhiprasad said in an interview.
Raashi earlier worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Sangatamizhan and now reunited for 'Tughlaq Durbar'. She is rumoured to be playing a Marwari girl and the actress has already joined the shoot.

"Both Vijay and Raashi have begun shooting for their portions, and we recently filmed a song as well. We have completed nearly 50 % of the film, and plan to wrap up the shoot by the first week of December. We finished most part of the film involving a huge gathering in February. There is one song, though, that would require several people in the background. We are figuring out on how to work on the same," says the director.

The makers have so far completed nearly fifty percent of the film’s shooting. Having launched earlier this year in January, the shoot of the project was halted in March after the coronavirus pandemic struck.

Meanwhile, Raashi has a few interesting projects in her kitty including Sundar C’s upcoming Tamil horror-comedy Aranmanai 3, Suriya’s Aruvaa, Pa Vijay’s Medhavi, with Jiiva and Arjun and a couple of Telugu projects. She was last seen on screen in Telugu film World Famous Lover.
