On the occasion of Ayudha Pooja an official announcement on Suriya's upcoming film with director Pandiraj has been made by Sun Pictures, who bankrolls the project.

While it was speculated before that Suriya would join the 'Namma Veettu Pillai' director for Sun Pictures, the announcement came as a treat for the star fans on the festival day.

Tentatively titled 'Suriya 40', the movie would be an out and out family entertainer and at the same time will deal with a major issue that the people of Tamil Nadu are facing.

This is the second time the actor-director duo are working together after Pasanga 2. It is Suriya's 2D Entertainment which produced Pandiraj's earlier film 'Kadaikutty Singam' with Karthik.

The rest of the cast and crew of Suriya 40 is yet to be announced, and it is expected that the actor will begin work on this project after completing the shooting for Vetri Maaran's 'Vaadi Vasal' in mid-2021.  

Suriya along with 'Suriya 40' will also be shooting for a film produced by his home banner 2D Entertainment and to be directed by 'Kootathil Oruthan' fame Gnanavel.

Meanwhile Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara and costarring Aprana Balamurali and Mohan Babu will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Diwali November 14th.
