Actor Simbu is currently shooting for his upcoming film 'Easwaran' with director Suseendhiran. The movie is slotted to complete it's talkie portion in a month and planning for Pongal release.

The makers released the first-look motion poster of the film recently and fans were excited to see the actor back in shape after he had undergone massive weight loss. Simbu looks in his best shape and strikes a pose with a snake resting on his shoulders in the first look poster.

Since the motion poster was released, the movie has been surfaced with some of the leakages from the shooting spot. On Monday, the pictures of Simbu surprisingly celebrating the birthday of his co-star were leaked, and on Tuesday, the video clip of Simbu with his new lean look was seen catching the Cobra from the tree and securing it in a gunny bag was leaked from the shooting spot. The video also has been rampantly spread across social media.

Now the video of actor Simbu handling a Cobra snake during the movie shoot has triggered a huge controversy. Snakes are categorized as performing animals and not supposed to be used in movies and if the charges are proven, it would be a violation under Wildlife (Protection) Act.

A formal complaint has been lodged with the forest department by a Chennai-based animal rights activist and former member of performing animals sub-committee. A separate complaint was also filed with Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI).
"The snake in the video looks real and appears like it has been defanged or drugged. This amounts to animal cruelty," the complainant said. Chennai Wildlife Warden CH Padma said the genuineness of the video has to be first ascertained, besides whether the snake in the visual is a real one or computer graphics.

Meanwhile, a source close to Simbu confirms that the matter was being discussed with the forest department and they were not in a position to add anything further at this stage.

It had shocked the movie team and some reports say that the movie team had blocked the footage on social media. Easwaran is bankrolled by KV Durai and Sharfudden under the banner of D Company, directed by Susheendaran while Thaman has composed music.
