'Master' not blasting this Diwali, but to come as Pongal treat

Directed by critically acclaimed Lokesh Kanagaraj, Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Master' has Malavika Mohanan playing leading lady.

While the fans of the actor were awaiting the release of 'Master' which was earlier scheduled to hit the screens in summer this year, the COVID-19 pandemic caused an indefinite delay in the release.

After the Tamil Nadu government allows the movie halls to re-open from November 10 following a set of strict safety measures, hopes were high that the movie will release for Deepavali.

There were rumours that Master team had decided to release the movie on November 14. However, the makers of 'Master' are not planning to release the film for Diwali.

In an interview, Lalit of '7 Screen Studio' who is holding the worldwide theatrical rights of 'Master' has said that though theaters in India are all set to reopen, their film will not release for Diwali as movie halls in foreign countries remain closed.

Vijay's overseas market is around 40-50 crores so the producers are not willing to compromise. The production team is not in a hurry to release the movie and they want to see the reaction of moviegoers once cinema halls reopen.

It is now said that 'Master' team is planning to release only on the next big festival Pongal 2021.

Meanwhile Vijay fans are now requested the makers to release the first look teaser of the film for Diwali as they have been waiting for so long to see a glimpse of the film.

In 'Master', Vijay plays a college professor while Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist. The film also stars Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthnu Bhagyaraj in the key roles.
