There were lot of speculations for the last few days over Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupati’s upcoming project 'Master' that makers has sold the OTT rights for direct release.

Multiple reports confirmed the OTT release and the platform to have bagged the rights vary between Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. However sources close the team told that they have sold the digital rights to Amazon Prime and OTT platform will stream the film only after the theatrical release.

Now, putting an end to all the rumors and speculations, the producer of ‘Master’, XB Film Creators has clarified that the film will release only in theaters.“As we continue to battle the pandemic, we hope you are all safe and doing fine. We understand and can feel the amount of excitement among the audience to celebrate our #Master in theatres. We await the Big Day to come, as much as you do. With lot of rumours surfacing in the past few days, we would like to clarify our stand on it. Though we have an offer from a reputed OTT service provider, we prefer to the theatrical release, which is the need of the hour for the industry to survive the on-going crisis. We also request the theatre owners to stand with us and provide their support for reviving the Tamil Film Industry. We hope to reach out to you soon, with the good news. The makers recently revealed the teaser of the film after much demand from Vijay fans. The craze around 'Master' is so much, thanks to Vijay's fanbase, that its teaser has crossed over 40 million views on YouTube.

Earlier, 'Master' was supposed to make it to the theatres in April this year, but it was unable to. Reportedly, the film will now be released for Pongal 2021. Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi are playing the protagonist and antagonist respectively., it will also feature Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das and Andrea Jeremiah in pivotal roles.
