At a time when big budget movies take years to film, Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Lingaa, directed by K.S. Ravi Kumar, has been shot in just 120 days.

Renowned cinematographer Rathnavelu, fondly called as Randy has tweeted in his official Twitter page that the shooting of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Lingaa is completed.

Randy tweeted, “Randy’s tweet reads as follows: “Yeah it’s a wrap! Lingaa movie shoot completed. Hugs from Thalaivar n KSR. Movie got over in lightning speed .. Thanx for my wonderful team”.

“Lingaa is a big budget film and of course, it has Rajinikanth, yet K.S. Ravi Kumar managed to achieve this feat,” said a source who didn’t want to be quoted, before the audio launch of the film.

Revealing details about how Rajinikanth was made to look so young, he said that the credit entirely goes to Sabu Cyril, who was roped in not in his traditional role of an ‘art director’ but as a ‘production designer’.

“He was responsible for the overall visual appeal of the film. Based on what the script needed and the inputs of the director, he decided on the costumes/make-up, sets, props and colours. Even though others had their creative freedom, the final decision was made by Sabu,” he added.

Keeping up with the filmmaker, who is known for his efficiency and pace while shooting his films, was a challenge.

“The key to achieving it was proper pre-production and research. Everybody was clear on what they had to do. That made all the difference,” the source said

Lingaa’s shooting took place for the past six months. The shooting kick started in the first week of May 2014. The shoots were canned in exotic locations in and around Mysore. The intro song was canned in UAE and Macau. The post production works of the movie will start shortly and the movie is expected to release on December 12, on Rajinikanth’s birthday.
