Alphonse Roy enters cinema!



Capturing the wildlife should be called the toughest camera work of all time. Filming the wildlife is filled with endless dares and dangers from equipment predicaments to rampaging wild animals. This is why wildlife documentary films have first-class rate in the market. World class satellite channels telecast wildlife documentaries, and the market for animal films grows up each day.

One among them is Indian tiger expert Alphonse Roy who is renowned for his plucky attempts to film a tiger catching its prey. Alphonse Roy graduated out of Chennai Tharamani Film Institute and he showed interest on wildlife instead of cinema, right from his early days. And today he is a top Wildlife cinematographers of India. He is also a proud winner of EMMY Awards, which is equivalent to the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards.

Many leading directors including Manirathnam and RGV invited Alphonse Roy for their projects, but due his prior commitments with National Geographic Channel, he was unable to step in cinema. Lastly, S.P.Jananathan too approached him for is ‘Peranmai’ but did not workout.

Now, the cinematographer is all set to show his talent in cinema for director Sudha, who was a one time associate of Manirathnam. This one produced by Sathyam Cinemas is titled as ‘Dhrogi’. After finishing this one, Alphonse Roy will be working for a Bollywood project for Amithab Bachchan’s home banner, AB Corporation Ltd.
