Tirru receives V. Shantharam award for Kanchivaram

Tirru receives V. Shantharam award for Kanchivaram Tirru S. is the recipient of the V. Shantaram award 2009 for his cinematography in Kanchivaram (Tamil). This award was presented at a function on 21st December 2009 in Mumbai. Though Kanchivaram could not fetch him a National award, Tirru is honoured and happy to receive this prestigious award.
Kanchivaram is a period film and hence Tirru had used only natural lighting. His work was much appreciated in the Toronto film festival where this film was premiered. The V. Shantaram awards are given by Rajkamal academy for cinematic excellence (RACE) constituted by Mr. V. Shantaram, legendary director and maker of Hindi films. This award is unbiased and hence much respected. The winner is chosen after two rounds of voting by 100 members. Tirru is a proud student of P.C. Shreeram. He is the man behind Hey Raam, Aalavandan (Abhay in Hindi), Sheed Bhagad Singh, Bhool Bhulaya and Ajab Prem ki ghazab kahani. Galatta.com congrtatulates Tirru for this award.
