Must hear music of ARR

When Goutham Menon was asked recently why he went all the way to London to release the music of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ the director emphatically said the movie may be Tamil but its music is international. So we wanted an international release. Such is the power of our Maestro, musical Storm and Mozart of Madras Mr. Allah Rakha Rahman. With the record Academy Awards by an Indian the musical genius still is exploring new heights of world music.

It all started when he played with reggae and jungle rhythms in 1991 for the movie ‘Roja’. There is no looking back for A R Rahman since then. He fiddled with Broadway-style orchestrations, ran cool variations on Morricone's scores for Italian westerns and the magic continues.

From the modest beginning of Dileep to the legend of today A R Rahman’s journey to the top is a mesmerizing mix of trials, tribulations, hard work and triumph.

Not forgetting his roots and his love for humanity AR Rahman has opened his heart and set up the A R Rahman Foundation to help poor and underprivileged children. He has initiated the proceeds of his first English single ‘Pray For Me Brother’ released in 2007 go to the foundation. Rahman has also established KM Music Conservatory and the KM Music Symphony Orchestra based out of Chennai to uphold a tradition in western classical music in India.

AR Rahman’s 'Ravana directed by Mani Ratnam and  'Endhiran' starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Bachchan are some of the most eagerly expected movies of 2010.

On his 44th birthday on January 6 IndiaGlitz takes immense pride in wishing the Pride of Indian Music happy returns of the day.

On this day IndiaGlitz takes a glimpse at some works of the master composer in movies and musicals and other genre he explored.
