Los Angeles: The Indian musician who put India on the Oscar map, has done the nation proud again. He was nominated in 2 categories at the 2010 Grammy Awards and he won in both of them. A R Rahman won the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture and the Slumdog Millionaire song ‘Jai Ho’ won the best motion picture song. However he has to share the prestigious award with the great lyricist Gulzar who penned the Jai Ho song. “This is insane, god is great again,” Rahman said as he accepted his second award before a VIP audience.

‘Jai Ho’ song has been sung beautifully by Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Vijay Prakash and Rahman himself. It was the debut at the Grammy Awards for Rahman and he won big.

At the Oscars, A R Rahman had won the golden statuettes for the Best Original Score (Jai Ho) and the Best Music Composer too. And now he is nominated in 2 Grammy categories – the best soundtrack for motion pictures, television or other visual media category for “Slumdog Millionaire”, and in the best song for motion picture, television and other visual media category for “Jai ho”. It will certainly be a double bonanza for the shy music composer, if he manages to pick up a Grammy as well.
