Popular star Suriya is approaching his silver jubilee; his rapidly progressing Singam is his 25th film. Today, when hardly any film runs for 25 weeks (silver jubilee) and many actors sink into oblivion after just a couple of appearances, these numbers assume great significance for any actor. In Singam, Anushka appears opposite Suriya for the first time. We do hope that Singam reaches the silver jubilee mark!

Suriya and director Hari are naturally hoping for a hat-trick after Aaru and Vel. Suriya dons the role of a police officer after Khaka Khaka and Hari directs this police story after Saamy.

Recently, the Singam team flew to Dubai for a shooting schedule and the latest we hear is that the actor and the director have decided to fly down to Chennai to participate in the felicitation function of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for announcing several welfare measures to film and TV personalities.

The event is expected to take place today (February 6) with a grand cultural show at the Nehru Indoor Stadium. There are reports that many leading stars, including Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will take part in the function. Amitabh Bachchan will the guest of honour at this event organized by the film fraternity. The event is jointly organized by all the associations of the film and small screen industry, Nadigar Sangam and FEFSI, Producers’ Council.
