Singamuthu bailed out

Three days after he was arrested on a complaint by Vadivelu's office assistant, comedian Singamuthu was granted bail by a Chennai court on Wednesday.
The Judge, while granting bail to Singamuthu, also reportedly refused to entertain a plea to take him to the police custody. On Sunday, the actor was arrested and remanded in judicial custody following a complaint against him by Shankar, who is working with Vadivelu.
In the complaint, Shankar alleged that Singamuthu barged into Vadivelu’s office-cum-residence at Saligramam in the morning. He allegedly claimed that Vadivelu had filed false complaints against him and that he was ready to face any number of such complaints.
He also held out threats, he said and added that Vadivelu was not present in the house at the time. Singamuthu was booked under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 294-B (obscene act or words) and 506-2 (criminal intimidation), the officer said. He was produced before the 18th Metropolitan Magistrate Judge, who remanded him to judicial custody.
The clash between the two actors, who appeared together in several films, came to light after Vadivelu submitted a complaint to the Police Commissioner a couple of months ago, alleging that Singamuthu had defrauded him to the tune of Rs seven crore in land deals.
