Rahman to perform in Commonwealth Games

Yet another honour awaits our music maestro A R Rahman. The Oscar-Grammy winner will perform live at the inaugural ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, one of the important international sport events.
According to organising committee chairman of Commonwealth Games Suresh Kalmadi, “Rahman has composed the theme song for the CWG and he will be performing live on the opening day ceremony.”
He adds: “We will however release the song in advance because we want the whole stadium to sing along when Rahman performs the song. It will be huge event involving other Bollywood celebrities too.”
It may be recalled that the Mozart of Madras has performed at the grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Mumbai. He had also composed a tune for the Champion League Twenty20 tournament. It’s not only the film makers who want to work with him, even the sporting bodies want to!
