Vijayakanth in King attire attracts crowds at Vridhachalam

Actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth has been busily making 'Virudhagiri', his next home production. The film, starring him as the hero, also marks his directorial debut in films. The crew recently shot at Vridhachalam in which Vijaykanth, donned in costumes resembling a 'King' of olden days, attracted huge crowds.

Produced by his brother-in-law's Captain Cine Creations, Vijaykanth returns to the role which has made him a household name in Tamil Nadu: that of a honest and tough police officer. Lanky Mumbai model Madhuri Deepak debuts as Vijaykanth's heroine in the film. The film's crew shot many sequences in locations abroad before returning to Vridhachalam, which happens to be the constituency the star represents in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Vijaykanth badly wanted to shoot some sequences in Vridhachalam to honour request from his fans and hence the shooting schedule was held there. The shooting was held in the historic Virudhagireeswarar Temple where Vijaykanth shot lad in a King's attire.

The crowd swelled to unmanageable numbers and later the police stepped in and took charge.
