A grand feast awaits Chennai film buffs


Arrangements are on in a full swing for the eighth edition of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) in which a host of award-winning films and actors from Europe will participate.
Speaking at the inauguration of EUNIC Film Festival in Chennai Monday, actress Revathi said that the CIFF would be a landmark event this year and it would soon become one of the biggest film festivals in the country.
In his address, director Vijay urged filmmakers to attend film festivals. “Foreign films have been an inspiration for many directors. They could get valuable inputs and ideas while attending such events”, he said.
CIFF vice-chairman S Ve Sheker, who is a popular actor, dramatist and a legislator, said organisations such as South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce and Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council have extended support for the CIFF, organised annually by the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation.
European Union National Institutes for Culture India Cluster president Imre Lazar, ICAF president B Ramakrishnan and secretary E Thangaraj also spoke.
