Today is the D-day, literally. The 'D' here stands for directors, as the Tamil Nadu Directors’ Union has made grand arrangement to celebrate its 40th year today in Chennai.
The day-long programme, divided into three parts, would have a music show, seminar and a cultural night. While the seminar would track the recent trends in cinema, the music show would see the participation of renowned musicians all over the country.
And the highlight of the event would be the cultural night, which too is expected to see pan -India participation. "We will have artistes dancing for popular numbers, comedians putting up skits, and directors planning the entire show", said an important office-bearer of the organising committee.
"The mega event is scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. Filmmakers from all over the country would take part in the celebrations. It is going to be a real big ceremony", organising secretary of the event R K Selvamani said.
To ensure better participation, the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council has cancelled shooting today. "We expect a huge turnout of all members of the film fraternity", Selvamani added.
