Filmmakers are in a celebration mood. The Tamil Nadu Directors' Union will organise a day-long event in Chennai to celebrate its 40th year on October 23, with inputs coming from over 200 members of the association.

Talking to journalists in Chennai on Sunday, organising secretary of the event R K Selvamani said the programme, which would be divided into three parts, would have a music show, seminar and a cultural night.

"The mega event is scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. The music show will feature leading musicians across the country, while the seminar would trace the recent trends in cinema", he said.

Saying that the highlight of the event would be the cultural night, he said, "We will have artistes dancing for popular numbers, comedians putting up skits, and directors planning the entire show".

He said filmmakers from all over the country would take part in the event. "It is going to be a real big ceremony", Selvamani said. Ace directors K Balachander and Bharathiraja, FEFSI chief V C Guhanathan and other office bearers of the association also spoke.
