Suriya's Rakta Charitra - I, being simultaneously made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, has received an A certificate from the Censor Board recently. The Censor Board officials also objected the use of 'Ananthapuram' in the film and the makers have agreed to change it.

The Hindi version (Rakht Charitra), is all set to grace theatres on October 22, 2010; the Telugu version (Raktha Charitra) will grace theatres on October 21, 2010. RGV is planning to make the Hindi version in two parts and the Tamil version as a single film. Reason? Suriya’s role will begin only towards the end of the first part of the film and the Tamil version will narrate the story from his perspective.

Rakht Charitra will have actor Vivek Oberoi as rebel-turned politician Paritala Ravi, one of the most-feared individuals in the blood-ridden faction politics of South India. Suriya will play the role of Maddalcheruvu Suri, Paritala Ravi’s opponent. Rakht Charitra is produced by Madhu Mantena and Sheetal Vinod Talwar; Mani Sharma is the music director. The film also stars Shatrughan Sinha, Priyamani, Radhika Apte, Subrat Dutta, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sudeep, Zarina Wahab, Raj Babbar and Ranjeet.
