Ilayathalapathy Vijay to wait and watch

Producer-director S.A. Chandrasekaran has opined that his son and actor Vijay might not take an ‘immediate plunge’ into the world of politics but contended that Vijay’s entry in politics has become an ‘inevitable’ one in the face of the expectations and support from his fans.

Reports said last week that Vijay would be convening a conference of his fans in Tiruchy in the first week of February wherein he would be discussing and formulating his ‘future’ course of action. It was also rumoured that Vijay might pitch in to support AIADMK and campaign for the party in the ensuing State Assembly elections scheduled in a couple of months from now.

Without naming anyone in particular, SAC said that a few political parties ‘didn’t like’ a star as popular as Vijay getting into politics. “The people are aware of whom am I talking about. Though ‘Kaavalan’ is neither a political film nor was it hurting anybody’s sentiments, the opposition ‘created’ prior to the release of the film were something I’ve never witnessed in my life.

“If a political party fears the release of an MGR film, it’s quite justified. Vijay can’t be compared to MGR by any stretch of imagination and the hurdles that were planned prior to the release baffle me. As far as my opinion is concerned, it would be better if Vijay takes to full-time politics by the time when he enters his forties (which is 3-4 years away from now),” concludes SAC.
