Director Hari and Prakash Raj have shared good rapport from a very long time. Hari's previous films 'Ayya' and 'Singam' has had great roles offered for Prakash Raj. For the third time, they are coming together in 'Vengai'. The film starring Dhanush and Thamannah in lead roles was supposed to have Kalabavanmani in negative role.

Due to some reasons, the actor has walked out and Hari has signed Prakash Raj for the same role.
