Director Mani Ratnam has roped in Arya for this magnum opus film. Recently Arya met the legendary director and have heard the script of his role and after listening to it with no second thought Arya has agreed to this film. Now it is being confirmed that Ilayathalapathy Vijay plays the title role of Ponniyin Selvan, while Mahesh Babu and Arya are going to play the remaining two characters. Veteran Sathyaraj will sport in an astral role. Arya also said that he is going for complete makeover for this epic.

Mani is now looking for a Bollywood actress to play the iconic female lead role Kundavai Piraati. This big budget historical epic is going to start the shoot from October.
