And he has done it! Vettrimaran has won the prestigious National award in 'Best Director' category for his critically acclaimed film Aadukalam. The film portrays the lives of some villagers in rural Madurai, especially youngster Karuppu (Dhanush), whose life turns upside-down when his master himself, in his own words "father figure", takes a sword against him!
Interestingly Vettrimaran's Aadukalam has also won an award for the 'Best original screenplay'.
